I — a fledgling novelist — first met her, my wife, ten years ago, during the final summer of university. I was the one who introduced her to him, my one and only best friend.

Inspired by Natsume Soseki’s classic novel Kokoro, this story follows a young writer as he enters a new chapter of his life.

His wife is pregnant, his family is happy, and his career is finally beginning to fall into place. But when he starts writing a novel inspired by his own past, memories he thought had long been buried slowly resurface.

Among them are memories of his youth—and especially of the college roommate who was once always by his side. As the past gradually returns, a secret he has kept hidden for years begins to come to light.
