And so we come to the end of this truly remarkable and memorable series, unlike anything produced in the West, particularly in this genre (cops and gangsters) and is all the better for it, a landmark, if I may so so, in gay romantic drama spiced with a little comedy. What makes it special is the way the four principal characters are fully developed and the chemistry that exists between the two couples. Though the emphasis is naturally on Meng Shao Fei and Tang Yi, it’s the slightly quirky but endearing blossoming of love between Jack and the reluctant Zhao Zi that really both moved and delighted me in a way I haven’t seen before. I go away having watched all 20 episodes in the space of a week or so feeling happy and content.
